Spirituality and Stillness

**This was written by Karan Wadhwani without the use of AI**

I write for you; I write to share the possibilities, the endeavours, the adventures, and the life you can live. I write daily- speaking, writing, and expression are whatI stand for. I have a collection of work in progress, a book with 36 excerpts; this is just a small collection of what I have been writing, mostly around my personal experiences and meandering advice.

1 Spirituality and Stillness

I've always been a spiritual person, call it what you want: esoteric, faith, the power of attraction, being in the present, mind over matter, connecting to your body, mind and soul - they all begin from within. I recently sat at the Gurdwara (a holy place) for 10 minutes. A little bit of silence goes a long way; stay humble, do the little things, provide service to yourself and others, and be happy. Find your peace in this age of Information and noise, and influence. I used to be ashamed of it; when my family would hold spiritual functions at home, I would be embarrassed, as it is not the norm. I spent three months in India after high school, where I saw the influence of money on religion, how if you donated more, you got a more extensive offering to give (thali). Every month was a public holiday, and it was known that the streets would be filled with people; you would be expected to buy gifts, and the focus on materialism was very, very evident, yet even those most impoverished individuals would be gathered in the streets gleefully. (Stay tuned for an article on wealth and materialism in the future!) So there are two sides to this coin. One is a balance between yourself and your beliefs, and one is the society or religion you follow. So now, in 2020 - I watch the world change - the West wants to become East, and the East wants to become West. Let's learn from our history facts; time is just a repeater of all if not carefully watched and addressed. I believe in good friends, good food and good beliefs - evidently, we have seen that doing good does not always breed success instantly, and karma well, that's true, and we can save that for another post. Let’s be clear. I’m not talking about religion because there are many religions, and as we know, it's not always understood in the best ways. Please understand I am very open to all religions and belief systems, but I think faith and religion all say the same thing. It must come from the individual’s experience to realize their potential and the potential of others as equals. Some argue and are adamant the Roman Catholic Church may own half the world, and a lot of organizations stifle money through religion every year, but it is those leaders at those levels making the decisions and choices. It’s people that are making those choices, so in the end, many people do look out for themselves. In that way, we must also look out for ourselves. Still, we find what is peaceful for us and our true selves in terms of Who We Are in terms of What we Want and What We Can Contribute in today's endless world of knowledge and opportunity. So please be conscious of our world, society, organizations, systems, beliefs, expectations, and much more. Just give yourself some time, just do it, because, in the end, you're living with yourself for life -so make sure it's good. Find your peace and harmony soon and practice it daily because some people find it way before others! In addition to doing something for yourself, I challenge you to do one selfless act today! Till next time! Karan Written Motivation
